Hi Friends,
How is everyone faring out there? How are we doing taking care of ourselves and each other? I feel like we all need a little extra love and support right now.
What does this look like in practice though? Good chocolate and bubble baths? Maybe. And if your heart sang a “hell yes” when you read that, I hope you make lots of time for that this Valentine’s weekend.
Or maybe it means carving out more time for quiet. Unplugging. Intentionally stepping away from the constant noise. Can you give yourself 10 minutes a day? 15? More? When can you do this? Morning? Midday? Evening? Make a plan.
Maybe it means more connection with your people. Face to face or a phone call.
More laughter. More play. More moments of joy. Put this in your calendar. For real.
Maybe it means saying “no”, better boundaries, or doing the thing(s) you have been avoiding.
More movement. How does your body want to move? What do your body and mind need? The intensity of a challenging yoga class or strength training? The movement and flow of walking or dancing? Mobility work? Time stretching?
Time outside. In nature. No earbuds. In your body. Notice. Drink it all in.
More sleep. Sleep is magic. Enough said.
Maybe your immune system needs more support with water and nutrient dense foods. Are you getting enough vitamin C and other antioxidants? Grapefruit, strawberries, kiwi, and red peppers are all great sources of vitamin C. Eat these daily. Brazil nuts for selenium. A few a day is plenty. Almonds and olive oil for vitamin E. Green tea, beets, liver, eggs, seaweed, salmon, kale, garlic, onions, mushrooms. The list of possibilities is endless!
I am including an immune system support meal plan HERE. Use it exactly as it is or play with it. Don’t like a suggested ingredient? Swap it. Ask me if you are unsure what to substitute. Use this meal plan for inspiration. I am a trained Natural Foods Chef and even I get tired of my own cooking and need new ideas. I know my kids would agree with this sentiment.
My wish for you this Valentine’s weekend is that you hold your people close and also take time to think about what you need. How do you take impeccable care of yourself? Then pick ONE thing. More play? What are you going to do and when? Keep it simple. But do the thing. Consistently and with a great big dose of levity and joy.
Happy Valentine’s Day. I am sending all of you so much love. I can’t wait to share what I have in store for you all this Spring.
