How to Set and Accomplish Goals

You have dreams and goals!  You know what you want!

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

You want energy. Maybe you want to lose some weight. You want to feel strong. You want to feel good in your body. You want to feel happy. You want to enjoy your life.

“Except when you don’t because, sometimes, you won’t.”

Maybe you have tried once, twice, ten times to accomplish a goal and haven’t succeeded. You decide you are the problem and start to collect evidence for how this is true. You are defeated before you even try on your next attempt. But you do try again, half heartedly. And when you inevitably don’t get the outcome you desire, you add this “failure” to your long list of why you can’t do it.

Taking these big desires and making them a reality is totally possible. People do this every single day. However, you need to have certain things in place before you begin. I’m sure you have all heard the advice that you need to break your big goals into smaller goals. This is true. You want to make your goals SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This is also key.

Most importantly though, you need to believe that you can accomplish your goal. That you are worthy of accomplishing your goal. You need to have your own back.

This is where the work of a coach and nutrition professional  can be incredibly helpful. If you keep bumping up against the same problems and repeating the same patterns, having someone by your side to support a shift in attitude and mindset is invaluable. Especially when the work gets hard, as it inevitably will when pursuing any goal. Having someone who has guided others through similar challenges and can see the roadblocks ahead can make all the difference.

Knowing that the months ahead will be full of challenges means this is exactly the right time to bring in support. What a gift! When you are ready to take action and make real change, you need accountability, support, and compassion.
